Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Manager of ResearchAdministration, act as a float Fund Manager for the Department of Medicine.Prepare all internal documentation and provide liaison to all Universityentities necessary for the preparation of all Department contract and grantproposals.
In this role, you will be responsible for all fund activitiesof designated accounts from fund inception to closure such that financialactivities and records do not deviate from approved policy and procedures;process Transfer of Funds, Cost Transfers (NPEARs & PETs), No CostExtensions and Request Approval to Spend funds; reconcile monthly ledgers;compile fiscal information to be used to prepare annual budgets, monthlyfinancial statements including projections utilizing information fromUniversity ledgers, Query Database (QDB), and the University On-line FinancialReports; provide guidance to the PI and other research faculty for fundedprojects to assure proper expenditure; prepare and/or approve purchasingdocuments, expenditure invoices and other charges, and resolve any accountingproblem or irregularities on a timely basis. Assist in the preparation of newresearch proposal applications to federal, non-profit, and private agencies,editing drafts, collaborating with investigators and gathering all theinformation necessary for submission; assist in preparation of pre-awardbudgeting including salary, equipment, supplies and other expenses used in theproposed research; track proposal status and sponsored research negotiationprogress; and ensure all necessary documents are complete and submitted. Mustbe able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Salary range: $22.03-$43.68 Hourly

Required:
- Mathematical skills for the preparation of complex calculations and forecasts and to identify and resolve complex financial problems.
- Skill in writing concise, logical and grammatically correct correspondence.
- Skill in working as part of a team composed of faculty, staff and administrators.
- Interpersonal skills to communicate diplomatically and effectively with all levels of faculty, staff and non-University entities
- Ability to use judgment when dealing with confidential information.
- Skill in performing a variety of tasks independently with minimal direction in a timely matter under conditions of fluctuating workloads, competing requirements, and changing deadlines and priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a computer with a Windows environment utilizing MS Office to perform word-processing, spreadsheet analysis, and database programming and management.
- Ability to accurately use 10 key adding machine
- Reading skills to comprehend University policies and procedures
- Skill in organizing and maintaining up to date, accurate bookkeeping records on-line and maintaining alpha-numeric files.
