What are the responsibilities and job description for the Divisional IT Manager position at UCLA?
Under the general supervision of the Director of PS-ITS, the incumbent is to serve as the lead technologist for the Division of Physical Sciences, consisting of six academic departments and multiple institutes. Incumbent is to serve as the technical director of the Science Learning Center, supporting both Physical and Life Sciences divisions. In collaboration with the Director of Physical Sciences IT Services (PS-ITS) and with input from the Division Dean and Assistant Dean, incumbent is to develop both long- and short-term strategic vision for the divisional networking and computing operations. Incumbent is to create, implement and update divisional IT policies for resource management, appropriate usage and technical support as well as provide technical direction and support to the Division IT managers and staff.
Incumbent is to plan, design, pilot, implement, and support divisional networking and server/workstation deployments as well as select, license, configure, and deploy commercial discipline-specific software for Life and Physical Sciences. Other duties will include selecting, configuring, and deploying suitable open-source software, direct implementation and ongoing improvement of websites for the division and related units, overseeing support of the instructional course websites hosted on campus LMS in coordination with departmental support units, functioning as a Senior System Administrator, providing direct support for computing operations in a complex heterogeneous computing environment, and representing the division on the technical campus IT committees. In collaboration with the Director of PS-ITS, incumbent is to develop and implement a coherent and appropriate cyber security policy for the division which aligns with the research, instructional, and administrative requirements and existing campus security policy.
