What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Analyst 3 position at UCLA?
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Payroll Services, the Payroll Analyst 3 will be responsible for directing the Payroll Analysts and HR Generalists in the completion of operational duties such as hiring, payroll, and other services provided at the customer counter; including but not limited to badge printing, fingerprinting processes, and general inquiries. They will ensure daily activities are completed, deadlines are met, and issues are resolved. The Payroll Analyst 3 reviews, and analyzes UCPath transactions to ensure timeliness and accuracy, in coordination with the payroll staff, UCPath team, and our local Payroll Partners. This position will be responsible for auditing and reconciling pre and post Bi-Weekly and Monthly payroll, reviewing various complex payroll transactions, and addressing any payroll discrepancies in coordination with departmental payroll representatives, the UCPath Center, and local Payroll Partners. This position will also be responsible for analyzing trends in transactional errors and reporting analysis, providing payroll policy interpretation and compliance to clients served by HR & Payroll Operations Center (HRPOC), and resolving escalated and time-sensitive payroll-related inquiries.
Additionally, the Payroll Analyst 3 is responsible for developing and maintaining the departmental Payroll Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training new staff members at the HRPOC-South, serving as the training lead for Kronos Editor Training sessions, and updating the training content and delivery of information.

Minimum of 4 years of prior experience processing payroll using an automated time and attendance system in a unionized environment.
Required
Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices, or procedures to define the problem or objective. Identify concerns and formulate logical and objective conclusions, recommending alternatives toward resolution.

Demonstrated ability to analyze policies and procedures and determine compliance of existing policies and procedures.

Working knowledge of payroll and HR online applications.
