What are the responsibilities and job description for the Specialist, University Audiences position at UCLA?
The Specialist for University Audiences develops, implements, and evaluates dynamic initiatives that engage the UCLA community and other adult learners with the Hammer Museum's collections, exhibitions, programs, and resources. This position serves as a liaison between the Museum and UCLA students, identifies opportunities to build and sustain university audiences in innovative and meaningful ways, and mentors future arts professionals.
Under the direction of the Associate Director, Academic Programs, this position manages the UCLA Student Educators, adult and university tours, Hammer Student Association, the Internship Program, and other student-centered initiatives. The Specialist cultivates opportunities for both independent and social learning among UCLA students and fosters their academic and professional growth, creativity, and skills.
The specialist will also contribute to wider Academic Programs department initiatives, including Art Activism: A Collaborative Learning Project and large-scale family and K-12 student and teacher programs.

Required/Preferred
3-5 years' experience working with teen or university students in an educational setting (formal or informal learning).
Required
2-4 years' experience teaching with works of art in tours and other museum programs.
Required
Knowledge of museum tour and teaching methods and strategies.
Required
Demonstrated ability in conceptualizing, planning, and implementing educational programs, including tours, workshops, and other university initiatives.
Required
Experience supervising and leading students through complex projects.
Required
Demonstrated passion for supervising, guiding, and mentoring university students.
Required
Experience developing programs that advance the museum education field.
Required
Degree in art, art history, museum education or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education; advanced degree strongly preferred.
Required
Working knowledge of contemporary art, living artists, and cultural production.
Required
Prior art museum experience and knowledge of museum operations, standards, practices, and procedures.
Required
Familiarity with university setting, working relationships, and operations. UCLA specific knowledge a plus.
