General Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision and coordination of the maintenance department functions and programs. Directs and coordinates support services. Training and development of its employees.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; some creativity and latitude is expected; works under the supervision of a manager.
Principal Duties / Responsibilities
- Assists in interviews and hiring processes
- Orientates and trains maintenance personnel
- Coaches, counsels employees, and initiates discipline as required
- Evaluates performance of subordinates
- Develops and implements preventative and other maintenance programs to ensure proper equipment operation.
- Identifies, researches and resolves problems
- Coordinates maintenance activities with operating department's requirements
- Leads employees in continuous improvement and safety initiatives
- Performs regular/preventative maintenance on all machinery, tools and buildings
- Develops, implements and supervises the plant's Preventive Maintenance program
- Repairs machinery, equipment, buildings and other Company assets in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals, manufacturing specifications, or by management request
- Orders supplies and parts as required, at competitive pricing and rates.
- Maintains records of repair/maintenance activities, per Company policy
- Prepares other reports as required
- Performs duties consistent with established safety rules and procedures
- Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
Knowledge
- Post high school education is required
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in machine repair and maintenance area; 1 to 3 years of experience managing people
- Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and control technology, and welding
- Working knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules and regulations
- Demonstrate working knowledge of hazardous wage and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
- Working knowledge of the use of precision tools, measuring instruments, and other hand tools
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and other business software
- Preferred understanding on company policies, practices and procedures
- Must be at least 18 years of age
