McDowell Center for Children (a UHS facility):
McDowell Center is a 28-bed residential treatment facility located in Dyersburg, Tennessee, for adolescent males experiencing mental health, behavioral, and/or substance abuse issues. Our staff is made up of licensed therapists, psychiatrists, nurses, and counselors who offer 24-hour support for our patients. We provide young men with the skills they need to improve their thinking patterns, make healthier choices, and create new futures with improved outlooks and outcomes.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Program Manager ensures the delivery of quality mental health care services within the context of structured clinical programs and an interdisciplinary treatment team. The Program Manager supervises the therapeutic community by providing personal quality assurance through monitoring, role modeling, and teaching. The Program Manager directly supervises Shift Supervisors including monitoring their effectiveness in meeting the position requirements, develops the work schedule, and ensures staffing meets licensure and acuity standards. The Program Manager works directly with upper management in developing and implementing the strategic goals and objectives of the McDowell Center for Children.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. The Program Manager must demonstrate flexibility in providing care to varied populations including dual diagnosis residents in a residential treatment setting.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in behavioral health science preferred.
Experience: Prior experience working with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in a residential setting. Prior supervisory experience highly preferred.
Licensure/Certification: None
Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of milieu management, case management, discharge planning, group leadership skills, age specific growth and development, crisis and behavior management, family therapy theory and practice.
Supervision Received: Chief Executive Officer
Supervision Exercised: Shift Supervisors, Mental Health Technicians
Environmental Conditions: Exposure to psychiatric residents who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. General hospital environment.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage residents. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping. Drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre-employment urine drug screen.
