Meridell Achievement Center is a nationally recognized 134-bed private residential treatment facility that specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents who have emotional, behavioral and neurobehavioral problems. Meridell has been providing exceptional care for our patients for over 50 years. We provide a wide range of services and programs that offer evidence-based treatment proven to have positive outcomes for our patients. Our inpatient and outpatient services offer supportive and compassionate care through specialty programs that are tailored to meet the needs of our patients. Our mission is to provide safe, effective, and compassionate mental health and substance use treatment.

Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the RN provides physical assessments of patients, implements treatment plans, evaluates response to treatment, provides complete documentation, administers medications as prescribed and provides health care education for patients and families.  The RN is the shift supervisor of the Mental Health Techs and LVN staff, and ensures that the environment is safe and therapeutic for all patients. Handles call-ins on your shifts, assigns nurses for unit coverage, takes the nurse “on-call” phone, attends bi-weekly meeting with the DON, holds monthly meetings, assists with campus nursing needs, manage the schedule for your respective shifts and communicates/works with the Program Managers to resolve any staff/nurse needs.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
• Prior clinical experience and recent psychiatric nursing experience is preferred.
• Current Texas RN License

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to meet the physical demands of lifting, moving over 50 pounds, walking and standing for long periods of time
• Must be able to perform required Handle With Care techniques to safely contain/restrain an aggressive patient.
