Oak Plains Academy is seeking a dynamic and talented Dietary Aide.
Oak Plains Academy is a comprehensive and highly structured 90-bed residential treatment center located on 25 acres of rolling hills in Ashland City, Tennessee. Oak Plains provides psychiatric and neurological treatment services for males and females, ages 5-17, who have significant history of emotional or behavioral issues. The clinical programs at Oak Plains Academy have been designed to address the needs of children and adolescents with a primary psychiatric/ neurological diagnosis. Residents receive an individualized treatment plan, geared to meet their personal needs. A professional team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, therapists, nurses, and teachers work closely with each resident to assist them to achieve there therapeutic and education goals.

The dietary personnel are responsible for all aspects of the dining facilities operation, which includes cooking and preparing foods, washing dishes and pots and pans, cleaning the kitchen and the dining room as well as monitoring, inventorying and storing groceries.
The dietary personnel will be able to understand the recipes that are used, as well as the directions and guidance given by the dietitian and supervisor.
All dietary personnel will have the inherent duty of serving patients and staff members on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities:
To follow recipes and menus as prepared.
To cook and prepare foods.
To wash dishes, pots and pans.
To inventory groceries as they are brought in by the distributors.
To keep the kitchen and dining room in a high status of sanitation.
To store groceries as they are brought in by the various distributions.
To serve foods to residents/ patients and staff members.
To follow all of the dietitians orders in regards to patients.
To work overtime as required.
To work a rotational shift schedule.
To report to work in all manner of weather; this position has been identified as inclement weather essential.
Other duties as assigned.
Demonstrate all Service Excellence Standards and Principles.
Position Requirements:
High School Diploma plus two years? experience in the area of mental health with demonstrable competence in required knowledge and responsibilities. Certain skills and experiences may serve as meeting position requirements with managerial approval.
Must have the ability to read recipe cards that are inherent to this facility and are written on an eighth grade reading level.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, color and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to clients who may ask inappropriate personal questions, display socially unacceptable personal behaviors, use profanity and sexually explicit phrases, make insulting remarks or threats regarding appearance, age, sex, or race, exhibit defiance, dishonesty, and assaultive or self-destructive behaviors.
