The Referral Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and functions of the referral department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The Referral Manager oversees and is responsible for all aspects related to referrals. Responsible for payroll approvals. Coordinates with senior leadership to promote strategic planning, supply chain management, and employee satisfaction. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders (CBO, marketing, quality team, business development, finance, A/P, payroll, human resources, c-suite, facilities, vendors, corporate and local administration) to ensure effective and efficient department operations. The Referral Manager will be the primary department liaison to internal and external stakeholders. Responsible for supporting and carrying out all established policies and practices, consistently working toward process improvements. Participates in employee recruitment, onboarding, and retention. Demonstrates service excellence, conveys professionalism, and always maintain appropriate confidentiality.

 

Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, was formed in 2012 as the physician services unit of UHS. IPM develops and manages multi-specialty physician networks and urgent care clinics which align with UHS acute care facilities. It also provides select services for the Behavioral Health division of UHS. Through continuing growth, IPM operates in 11 markets across six states and the District of Columbia. Qualifications

Education: 

·         Associate degree/Technical School/2 Years College required. 

·         In lieu of Associate degree, 5-7 years equivalent healthcare experience may be considered, with at least 1-2 years of supervisor experience.

 

Work experience: 

·         Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in healthcare or clinical setting

 

Knowledge:

·         Knowledge of clinical terminology, insurance billing, procedural and diagnosis coding, federal and state insurance

·         Knowledge of regulations and HIPAA privacy standards is strongly preferred.

·         Typing, 10 key, and computer skills required.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.

·         Acute healthcare knowledge and ability to evaluate clinical data to acquire pre-authorizations and referrals is preferred. Knowledge of third-party reimbursement regulations is preferred.

·         Patient Management, Billing and Managed Care system processes competency.

·         Understanding of functions and workflow of Clinical/Hospital departments.

·         Recruiting, training, leading and performance management of staff

·         Results oriented with a proven track record of accomplishing tasks within a high-performing team environment.

·         Able to multi-task and meet established time frames.

·         Decision making, process improvement, project management,

·         Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
