River Crest Hospital is a modern, 80-bed psychiatric hospital, specializing in the treatment of mental health and substance use disorders that can afflict individuals of all ages, from children and teens to adults and the elderly. POSITION SUMMARY

The Nursing Educator is responsible for assisting the DON/ADON in evaluating, reviewing, designing and implementing hospital training events with respect to all RN/LVN/MHT staff required training. Also provides, on as-needed basis, patient nursing assessments. Participates in Treatment Team meetings as needed. Provide function guidance to clinical staff. Assist supervisor in staffing, training and coaching of staff. Responsible for covering clinical offices based on operational need. Assistants in examination and treatment of patients, take vital signs, record patient charges, record patient history, assist in minor office procedures. Participate in patient education, communicating effectively with others and functioning in the scope of practice. Provides and monitors safe, cost-effective patient care in accordance with RN scope of practice and adherence to the organization’s nursing policy and procedures. Thorough knowledge of infection control and aseptic techniques.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of providing training, coaching and mentoring along with departmental processes, techniques, and methods. Knowledge of assigned human resources functional areas. Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing. Skill in using computers and related software. Skill in data analysis and problem solving. Skill in planning and organizing. Ability to develop short and long range plans. Ability to handle hostility, conflict and uncertain situations. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
Ability to train others. Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with all employees of the company.

Education: Graduate from an accredited program in nursing. Master’s Level preferred.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years direct clinical experience preferred in a psychiatric or mental health setting, with direct experience in staff education, nursing practices, patient assessments, education concepts, practices and procedures.
Licensure: Registered Nurse in state of Texas.
Additional Requirements: Complete knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, restraint and seclusion, and ability to prepare and present training events as directed for Nursing Services. Completion of training in HWC/Verbal De-Escalation and CPR within 30 days of employment. May be required to work occasional weekends and/or other hours; conduct weekend training as needed.
