Utilization Management Coordinator wanted at Cumberland Hospital!
Position Purpose:
Serves as the lead financial liaison between the facility, patient/family and the payor by verifying and securing financial support/commitment for the admission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates professional selling skills and understands and effectively communicates the features and benefits of Cumberland’s programs to the payor source.
- Demonstrates competence in medical knowledge and extensive knowledge and command of health insurance plans and managed care benefits.
- Responsible for investigating, negotiating and securing health insurance coverage for patients referred to the hospital.
- Participates as a team member within the facility and department.
- Fulfills responsibilities to the facility in adherence to philosophy and general policy.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field or a Nursing degree.
Skills, Knowledge and abilities:
Requires excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing; extensive knowledge of health insurance plans and managed care benefits as well as Medicaid; strong negotiation skills, ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision; ability to work well with others; ability to think quickly in times of stress or crisis.
Experience:
Requires minimum three-year's experience in healthcare reimbursement and minimum of 2 years customer service experience.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to handle stressful and quick changing situations. Must have normal auditory process functions. Must have clear verbal speech with no impediments. 50% of the time the incumbent is seated and talking on the telephone.
