Position Summary
The Utilization Review Coordinator will be responsible for proactively monitoring the utilization of continuum services and optimize reimbursement for the system. This individual will also develop and maintain effective relationships with Needs Assessment and Business Office.

Qualifications
Education: Master’s Degree preferred. Clinical degree such as nursing, social work, psychology, health information management or other related healthcare field is preferred, or related experience.
Experience: Experience in a psychiatric setting preferred; knowledge of health care service delivery systems and third party reimbursement; knowledge of managed care environment.
Licensure/Certification: CPI and BLS training provided upon hire.
Other: Excellent telephone skills and strong verbal skills; ability to interpret admission and continued stay criteria; understanding of admission and discharge function; familiarity with medical terminology, diagnostic terms and treatment modalities; knowledge of medical record keeping; strong interpersonal, organizational, evaluative, and time management skills; policy interpretation skills; familiarity with applicable standards and regulations; flexibility; attention to detail; able to comprehend psychiatric evaluations, consults, lab results, etc. ; responsiveness to deadlines; assertiveness, persistence, and persuasiveness; able to work with minimal direction or supervision. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other healthcare software programs is highly preferred.
HIPAA: Has access to and adds information to the Medical Record. May only access medical record of assigned patients.
