A Client Accounting Senior Manager possesses the ability to assume full responsibility for directing engagements and special assignments and has the enhanced capability of supervising a number of engagements and staff simultaneously. The Senior Manager oversees the performance of staff, client services and all related activity. The Senior Manager can perform all tasks related to client service and sees that assignments are accomplished by the engagement team within the budgeted time. This role takes on responsibility for the professional and technical development of the staff through on-the-job-interaction and leading in-house training.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Regular duties include (but are not limited to):
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge and proficiency in advanced technical skills necessary for supporting client base and work
- Complies with pronouncements of professional and other regulatory groups, and enlightens and teaches the impact of such pronouncements to all staff
- Recognizes complex technical issues, uses strategic decision-making skills and reaches appropriate conclusions
- Develops industry expertise and stays abreast of industry news; contributes to staff development by sharing industry knowledge
- Ensures top quality client service and oversees performance of engagement activity
- Participates in client related planning, including the preparation and ongoing management of budgets
- Ensures quality control procedures are being executed on all engagement activities
- Builds client relationships; maintains smooth working relationship with clients and solicits client input on satisfaction
- Proactively demonstrates a willingness to learn and attain greater knowledge on a continual basis; looks to build technical skill base
- Makes well-thought-out decisions and considers all facts prior to making final conclusions
- Asks appropriate questions and requests consultation when necessary
- Maintains positive, professional client relationships
- Responds timely and accurately to internal team and client requests
- Develops processes that create efficiencies and improve quality of work
- Ability to manage a team to work within budgetary parameters
- Appropriately communicates difficult situations encountered on engagements to supervisor and client
- Lead and drive review process of CAAS deliverables
- Travel to clients as needed (~10 - 15%)
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Experience
- 8 plus years of relevant Accounting/Finance and management/supervisory experience in public accounting, professional services, corporate or private industry
- Supervisory experience, large staff a plus
- Thorough understanding of general accounting principles
- Proficient knowledge of accounting software (Bill.com, QuickBooks (Desktop or Online), and/or SAGE are preferred but not required), Excel, and Word
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
- Advanced degree or certifications a plus
License / Certification
- MBA and/or CPA license highly preferred
