Overview
Engineering Technician I (E30-2022-17494-F):
Bowhead seeks an Engineering Technician I for work on NSWC Dahlgren supporting the E30 Gun Weapon Systems Division to join our team. The position is fully funded and in the first year of a five year contract. The Engineering Technician I performs complex and unique engineering support assignments. Designs and constructs major units and equipment. Develops new test procedures and measurement techniques. Conducts tests and experiments to prove/disprove feasibility of design. Reports to a Team Lead.
Responsibilities
- Gathers and maintains specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc.; performs computations by substituting numbers in specified formulas; plots data and draws simple curves and graphs.
- Manufactures cables and wiring harnesses.
- Responds to and tracks issued work tickets.
- Supports facility, assets, and equipment to maintain, repair, modify, replace, and upgrade.
- Provides other support as requested.
- Reads and interprets wiring drawing from Pspice/ ORCAD and AutoCAD Systems.
- Troubleshoots electrical and electromechanical units.
- Utilizes Multiple Connector assembly tools such DMK Crimpers.
- Builds different types of connectors that require solder and mechanically attached terminal pins or sockets.
- Reviews, edits, and submits drawings for red lines work.
- Wires solid state relays, circuit breakers, Ethernet, coax, triaxle.
- Performs Quality Assurance Testing of units, modules and subsystems.
Qualifications
- This experience includes developing and testing solutions to solve technical problems in research and development, manufacturing, inspection, and maintenance, and assisting engineers in inspecting products, conducting tests, and collecting data.
- Certified or Highly proficient in soldering.
- Knowledge primarily in electrical engineering with some mechanical.
- Experience with naval gun weapons systems preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts. To receive and respond to instructions/assignments, must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in applying engineering services to Gun Weapon Systems components and assemblies.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 15 to 25 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
