Senior Strategic Planner

Overview

SENIOR STRATEGIC PLANNER (NGBSG): 

Bowhead is seeking a Senior Strategic Planner with the ability to understand and shape the Headquarters National Guard Bureau (NGB) strategy and mission. This contract is tasked with providing strategic planning and policy analysis and implementation management support to the Joint Staff, National Guard Bureau.

Responsibilities

- Assist in the development of plans to materialize strategy and analyze proposals.

- Research competition to identify threats and opportunities.

- Assess NGB’s operational and strategic performance.

- Align processes, resources planning and Chief, NGB’s goals with overall strategy.

- Provide support and insight into significant organizational changes (e.g. shift in strategic focus, mergers and acquisitions).

- Educate senior leadership in making effective decisions.

- Construct forecasts and analytical models, monitor, and analyze organizations trends and changes.

- Attend monthly meetings of various workgroups in the J1 portfolio.

Qualifications

• BA/S in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance or a related field; MSc/MA/MBA is preferred.

• Minimum of ten (10 ) years of Strategic Planning experience within the DoD.

• Demonstrable understanding of research and data analysis tools and knowledge of NGB’s operations and procedures.

• Demonstrable strategic thinking abilities and proven organizational and leadership skills and excellent communication skills.

• Familiarity with current law, OSD policy, service policy, and cross-referenced with current National Guard policy.

• Understanding of FEMA risk assessment methodology.

• Ability to assist the government in development of analytic and progress tracking tools for any strategic plans or initiatives.

• Able to analyze research and draft tools to conduct analysis of NGB initiatives being assessed for impact and effectiveness.

• Familiar with and able to utilize the NGB Task Management Tool (TMT).

• Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project and GANTT programs.

• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

Physical Demands: • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time• Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must hold and be able to maintain security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Top Secret clearance at this location.
