What are the responsibilities and job description for the Delivery Person (Food Service) position at Ukiah Unified School District?
SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Director, Food Service & Nutrition, the Food Service Delivery Person receives, stores, routes and distributes food along with food service supplies from the district’s central kitchen located at Ukiah High School to schools and sites served by the Ukiah Unified School District.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In cooperation with Food Service Director, Food Service Coordinator and department supervisors, fills orders and routes for daily delivery.
Loads and delivers food/supplies to various school locations and sites served by Ukiah Unified School District.
Receives deliveries from various supplies/vendors; checks invoices for accuracy, identifies and confirms product quality.
Warehouses food and supplies in an organized, safe manner according to appropriate storage requirements and locations following a First In-First Out (FIFO) method.
Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of loading docks, receiving areas as well as storage areas.
Operates a one-ton truck with box-type bed and lift gate.
Performs assigned duties in a safe manner.
Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS /REQUIREMENTS: KNOWLEDGE OF:
Traffic laws that apply to the operation of trucks.
Safe work practices.
Warehouse and inventory procedures. ABILITY TO:
Work independently adhering to required procedures and schedules.
Operate a one-ton truck (with lift gate) skillfully and safely.
Learn and remember delivery locations, routes and contacts.
Perform heavy manual labor, including stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, walking and standing for long periods of time.
Load and unload District vehicle as the job requires.
Maintain insurability to drive a District vehicle.
Read, write and speak English sufficiently to successfully perform required duties.
Hear, speak and write to receive and exchange information.
Establish and maintain effective working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, students and the public.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent. Additional related experience and/or training that would indicate possession of the above skills and abilities.
One year of experience in truck or bus driving and/or delivery work.
California Driver’s license and a good driving record verified by a DMV printout.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Fast paced, schedule oriented and physically demanding.
Physical strength/agility sufficient to perform a wide variety of frequent physical tasks including maneuvering transport carts, operation of truck lift gate and pallet jacks.
Warehouse duties requiring the repeated lifting and carrying of items up to 50 pounds involving stooping, bending, reaching and performing other demanding physical tasks.
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers. Reaching overhead and horizontally to shelve and retrieve items in high places; standing for extended periods of time; bending at the waist.
Post hire/pre-employment physical required.
