We are currently seeking a full-time Writer in our downtown Columbus office. The position will execute strategy, provide forward-thinking creative leadership and demonstrate the ability to work effectively across practices, offices and departments. The Writer's primary responsibilities include updating and improving existing copy and developing new, strategic copy for marketing material, such as attorney biographies, website and internet content, marketing collateral, advertising, press releases, marketing pitches, editing RFP responses, and attorney presentations.
Job Duties Include:
- Drafting public/media relations materials, including press releases, media pitches and talking points.
- Creating crisp, accurate, error-free copy for online and print materials such as web copy, practice descriptions, representative experience lists, case studies, ranking/award submissions, attorney biographies, and presentations.
- Providing editorial review of all copy (including client alerts, bylined articles, and other attorney-written marketing materials and presentations) with emphasis on accuracy, completeness, strategic marketing effectiveness, and branding consistency.
- Drafting and editing content for various external digital outlets, including e-mail marketing, blog posts, and Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter updates, as well as internal communication platform.
- Dealing effectively with differing opinions and diverse personalities.
- Demonstrate a versatile writing style capable of achieving the necessary tone and voice for multiple, disparate audiences and publications while simultaneously maintaining consistency in terms of message, accuracy, branding and strategic objectives.
- Adhere to style guide consistency and work with marketing communications manager to update/create written guidelines.
Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Journalism, English, Marketing, Public Relations or Communications, including at least 5 years of experience in the legal industry or related industry preferred. Must be able to provide an extensive portfolio of print, online or related work (an electronic submission or URL preferred). Must be able to demonstrate a high-level proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint). Firm deadlines, quick turnaround times, and fluctuating workloads are common for this position; the ideal candidate will be able to handle these challenges with grace and confidence. The successful applicant will work with our attorneys, our marketing director, and outside agency partners, service providers and freelance support.
