The Opportunity
The Payroll Tax Analyst provides subject expertise and guidance across all areas of Payroll Tax such as: labor & employment tax regulations, Federal, State, and Local Tax legislations, reciprocity rules, and multi-state taxation laws as well as processes and files all quarterly and annual tax filings.
What You’ll Do
- Manage wage/hour and tax compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Analyze multi-state payroll tax data and performs calculations, and ensures that payroll information is reported to federal, state, and local agencies as may be required.
- Weekly administration of payroll tax activities for assigned legal entities including distributions of tax remittances according to tax jurisdiction guidelines.
- Design, document, and review payroll tax processing procedures.
- Partners with the payroll team to identify tax corrections and amendments that require processing.
- Monitors agency notices and SUI rates.
- Registers new state and local jurisdictions.
- Performs internal payroll tax audits to ensure correct work and live tax state setups.
- Assists with external, internal, and tax agency audit requests.
- Assists the Payroll Manager with special projects as needed.
What We Expect from You
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field and 5 years of payroll related experience, with 3 years in multi-state payroll tax.
- Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel), Ultimate Software (Ultipro), or MS Dynamics365 preferred.
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation preferred.
- Program management and payroll systems integration/implementation experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of payroll processing, payroll taxes, and accounting.
- Reconcile monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll taxes and related tax filing reports including 941s, W-2s.
- Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle confidential matters related to daily business operations.
- Strong organizational/follow-up skills and attention to detail.
- Must possess knowledge of laws and regulations relating to employment practices.
- Must possess well-rounded knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal/written communications, time management, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to be organized, work on multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines by setting priorities.
- Ability to operate in a fast paced, and rapidly growing organization.
- Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.
