Job Description
A local Biotech company is seeking a buyer who is responsible for purchasing and vendor negotiations. This person will be evaluating quotes, services, and previous performance data to determine the best value. Must have 2-5 years in this industry specific role.
- Works with planning to forecast demand using multiple metrics, including finished goods, forecasts, and usage history to determine appropriate inventory levels of raw materials.
- Expedite orders as necessary to ensure on-time delivery. Identify actual and potential delivery problems and take proactive steps to inform appropriate personnel. Coordinate the disposition of defective or unacceptable goods and make appropriate corrective measure
- Purchase raw materials, lab supplies, scientific equipment and services, office/business supplies based on planned usage and inventory requirements
- Track progress of orders/backorders and effectively communicate with internal customers on the status of incoming materials.
- OEM and custom product purchasing experience as well as Chemical and Biologicals, printed materials, such as boxes, labels, inserts, plastics and glass materials.
- Assists planning by ordering raw materials needed to fulfill customer orders by creating purchase requisitions, request pricing, obtain approval signatures and placing purchase orders.
- Evaluates vendor reliability; develops new supply sources as required.
- Coordinates purchasing activities with other departments to maintain inventory and supplies at planned levels
- Knowledge of FDA Quality System Requirements, cGMP and ISO Standards.
- Must have effective negotiation skills
