We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual for the position of First Responder Liaison within our Crisis Response System. This pivotal role will involve facilitating the Indiana 988-911 Interoperability Committee, enhancing communication between crisis intervention services and first responders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the facilitation of Indiana's 988-911 Interoperability Committee.
- Oversee and enhance communication strategies between the 988 helpline and 911 services.
- Conduct debriefs on real-life scenarios to assess and identify system gaps.
- Provide vital technical assistance to bridge issues between law enforcement and the crisis care continuum.
- Foster relationships among crisis care providers and first responders.
- Collect and systematically organize data pertinent to the 988 crisis care continuum and justice system.
- Develop and deliver training programs for 911 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) and first responders regarding the 988 initiative.
- Maintain and update operational manuals, including safety protocols and technology access guidelines.
- Formulate and implement integration strategies for fire, law enforcement, and Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT).
- Establish a robust program evaluation framework, identifying best practices and effective data collection methods.
- Personal experience navigating crisis services related to mental health, substance use, or suicide.
- Professional background in first responder roles (911, Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS).
- In-depth understanding of law enforcement standards and 911 PSAP culture.
- Knowledge of SAMHSA Behavioral Health Crisis Care Best Practices.
- Proficient in de-escalation techniques and collaborative problem-solving.
- Demonstrated cultural and linguistic competence, particularly in addressing the needs of underrepresented communities.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations.
- Aptitude for learning and adapting to new technologies and software.
- Excellent project management capabilities, including multitasking and prioritizing assignments.
- Personal or lived experience with crisis services is essential.
- Experience in any first responder capacity is preferred.
- Proven ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity and linguistic awareness in crisis intervention.
