General Position Summary: Assists the HR team by supporting human resources daily activities, including recruiting, training, orientations, drug testing, and employee related services. May occasionally provide assistance to the Payroll Department.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Assist with applicant interviews, onboarding functions, new hire orientations, and exit interviews.
2. Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
3. Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
4. Create new employees in Viewpoint. Scan/create electronic employee files.
5. Helps compile data for EEO job applicant tracking spreadsheets for UMC’s Affirmative Action Plan.
6. Assist Safety and Field Superintendents in completion of field new hire paperwork during the hiring/orientation process.
7. Complete forms required for the Employment Security Department.
8. Support certification and license tracking.
9. Assist with HR hosted Employee events.
10. Regular attendance and promptness are considered part of each employee's essential job functions.
11. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
12. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
13. Backup support for training and benefits questions.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Interview summer Project Engineer intern candidates.
2. Assist HR team with annual healthcare benefit renewal process.

10. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
Education Requirements Needed to Perform the Essential Duties of the Job:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources experience preferred.
- SHRM-CP a plus.
Licensing or Other Special Certifications Required: Maintain a valid Drivers License and satisfactory driving record.
