What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Specialist CL2 position at UMS?
The University of Southern Maine seeks applicants for a full-time position to join our Facilities team as an Electrical Specialist CL2.
The Facilities Management department is at the core of USM’s ability to deliver an exceptional and affordable educational experience to students in Maine and across the country. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00AM – 3:00PM with an hourly rate of $23.19.
Work is primarily non-routine in nature due to calls for service, and variety of assigned projects. Incumbents communicate with individuals both within and outside of the University to schedule and plan projects. Incumbents understand the full scope of the electrical trade to accomplish assigned projects and calls for service. Incumbents at this level will be responsible for coordinating project steps with other trades, and performing all levels of troubleshooting and emergency repair.
This is an essential position with the expectation of reporting to work during declared administrative leaves and administrative holidays, including possible campus closures due to inclement weather.

Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) with sufficient experience to obtain appropriate certification or license (Journeyman's certification or equivalent is typical at this level) AND three years of related electrical experience.
- Must have a valid Maine Driver’s License that is compliant with University of Maine System APL Driving requirements.
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Interpersonal and analytical skills are necessary in order to communicate effectively with coworkers and other University personnel.
