JOB SUMMARY: The Access Management (AM) Supervisor will supervise the daily workflow of Access Management areas including: Emergency Dept. Registrars, and Switchboard Operators. Works with Department Manager in carrying out department procedures, monitoring budget, hiring and evaluating staff. The AM Supervisor works with Leadership in providing excellent service to all our patients, family, guest and employees. Performs other related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise the daily workflow of Access Management areas including: Emergency Department Registrars and Switchboard Operators.
- Assists Department Manager in implementing department procedures, monitoring budget, hiring and evaluating staff.
- Assists with training of teammates and provides guidance and feedback on employee performance through rounding, auditing and assessing work and various quality reports
- Responsible for daily cash management and valuables function to include daily and weekly audits as appropriate
- Represents Access Management to other departments regarding Access Management functions
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required, Associates degree preferred. Professional certification through NAHAM, AAHAM or HFMA) to be obtained within first year of hire.
Experience: Previous experience working with the public required. Hospital or physician office experience helpful. Highly preferred 3-5 years of Patient Access experience.
Other: Computer literate with ability to learn current system. Medical terminology or ability to learn medical terminology. Must work independently, use good judgement and decision-making skills. Must have excellent verbal communication skills and a positive attitude toward working with the public. Dependability and flexibility are required. Well organized with proven ability to work independently. Skills should include standard office equipment. Attend dealing with aggressive patients’ course.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Functional range of motion. Functional vision and hearing. Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination required. Frequent sitting. Occasional walking, walking, stooping, and bending. Occasional lift and carry items weighing 20 pounds.
