Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to join our team at our Elizabeth Church Campus located at 863 Front Street Binghamton, NY! As a Human Resources Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the HR Department with various administrative tasks. Primary Responsibilities:
- Records and updates employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, and termination details in the HRIS system.
- Reviews and processes employment applications and assists in the onboarding, pre-employment paperwork and orientation processes.
- Creates pre-employment and orientation packets.
- Creates and maintains personnel, medical, and background check files upon hire and updates files to document personnel actions.
- Submits registration form to IT department for IT access for new hires.
- Submits background and reference checks and monitors outcome.
- Files and monitors disability and leave claims.
- Assists in payroll processing and timecard approval. Enters payroll data in timekeeping system.
- Makes name badges and security passes.
- Monitors/processes certification and license renewal.
- Assists staff with benefit enrollment.
- Tracks and schedules pre-employment and annual physicals.
- Completes employment and wage verification requests.
- Completes unemployment insurance inquiries.
- Understands and follows all HIPPA Guidelines.
- Covers front desk for breaks, lunch and absences as necessary.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources
- Previous experience in an HR role or internship is a plus
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with HRIS systems is a plus
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
