Manager, Area Security

The Area Security Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day physical and operational security program for Zipcar. The essential functions of the security program and strategy include the protection of Zipcar’s physical assets, information and operational security. This position will report directly to the Corporate Security Manager. General Duties and Responsibilities: Manage the day-to-day physical and operational security programs consistent with Zipcar policies, procedures, laws and regulations Initiate investigations based upon the analysis of Zipcar loss trends by geographical area, internal reports and input from other informational sources Maintain metrics and statistics for area of responsibility Ensure appropriate and timely response to matters requiring security manager representation such as; local incident crisis, theft/conversion incidents requiring police contact, impound and repossession recoveries, employee misconduct investigations, law-enforcement hotline reports and workplace violence matters Respond to law enforcement inquiries and maintain relationships with local, state, federal and international law enforcement officials, and testify in Court as needed. Conduct investigations of reported, alleged or suspected fraud and abuse; identify new initiatives and/or projects that will identify and reduce internal and external fraud, waste and abuse; conduct fraud prevention analysis against new and existing member account originations that pose high-risk indicators for abuse Partner with internal departments to provide assistance, expertise or performance improvement exercises as required Provide training for new and existing employees relating to security and fraud awareness, prevention and response All other duties as needed or required Experience Minimum 5 years' experience as a sworn law enforcement officer Experience in criminal investigations Experience in corporate investigations is preferred Experience in auto theft and embezzlement investigations is highly desirable Knowledge of criminal investigation procedures, law enforcement operations, and legal system in the New York region Strong technical proficiency to include knowledge of GPS tracking technology and other technologies employed by Zipcar Essential Functions Excellent problem-solving and project management skills Able to work in a fast-paced environment with appropriate level of independence Ability to be adaptable and flexible in responding to multiple competing priorities, deadlines and workflow requirements Able to interface with Zipcar and ABG leadership teams, regulators and industry compliance peers concerning subjects related to PCI compliance, fraud and abuse Strong oral, written, and presentation skills Self-motivated, assertive, performs well in a supply chain and customer focused environment Ability to develop a strong working knowledge of Zipcar products, member services, policies, procedures and technologies Education Associate Degree required, Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred What tops off the tank:   Competitive Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability Insurance and other voluntary benefits through our parent company, Avis Budget Group Generous paid time off, including holidays, vacation, personal, sick, volunteer and Parental Leave options Tax-free benefit for public transportation or parking expenses Bicycle Reimbursement program 401(k) Retirement Plan with company matched contributions Free Zipcar Membership and other employee discounts, including discounts on renting and buying Avis/Budget cars Community involvement opportunities Who are we?  Glad you asked!
