SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Senior Park Ranger, the Volunteer Camp Host is assigned to the Recreation Department and will perform nonscheduled volunteer services in exchange for allowing Camp Host to reside on United’s property for a period no longer than six (6) months.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Hosts are to provide their own self-contained recreational vehicle that will serve as their primary place of residence within a designated Camp Host site at the Lake Piru Recreation AreaOther equipment needed to perform volunteer duties may be provided by and at the discretion of Division staff.  Camp Hosts are "on-call" to assist other campers and/or visitors at all times of the day or night


Camp Hosts will provide a minimum of twenty (20) hours per person per week of service.   


SOME DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

Guest and Safety Services:

  • Greet and provide park information to visitors;
  • Staff and maintain the park’s entry kiosk;
  • Conduct campground checks; monitors after hours activities and report suspicious activities to authorities;
  • Call for emergency services as required; 
  • Be helpful, courteous, and accessible to all park visitors, neighbors, and employees;
  • Register campers via the use of mobile electronic device; and Process and collect payments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Maintenance:

  • Perform campground litter patrols, trash collection and restroom maintenance;
  • Perform minor campground repairs and grounds maintenance 
  • Clean restroom facilities.  

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age;
  • Must successfully pass a drug screening and background check;
  • Must possess a valid and current State issued vehicle driver’s license;
  • Current vehicle registration with the proper DMV;
  • Current vehicle insurance that meets the minimum insurance requirements set forth by the State of California; and eligibility for issuance of a United Driver Permit.
  • Must complete Radio Training (provided by United)
  • Must complete First Aid/ CPR/ AED Certification within 4 months of signing or placement.
