What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Records Coordinator - New York, NY position at UnitedHealth Group?
This position is full-time (37.5 hours/week) Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of sunday-thursday 9am-5pm It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 100 East 77th St., New York, NY.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordinate department acquisition and logging medical records for all discharged patients
- Audits various patient logs and reports to ensure accuracy and medical records distribution functions
- Facilitates the review of medical records for deficiencies and proper assembly
- Collaborates with appropriate clinical departments to resolve various record deficiencies and close files according to regulatory guidelines
- Reviews and updates medical records with coding deficiencies
- Ensures all processes are entered into department computer system for tracking and record keeping purposes
- Conducts regular quality audits of medical records. Presents results to management, related committees and meetings
- participates in staff educational activities to optimize department performance.
- Perform related duties as required
- Moderate work experience within own function.
- Some work is completed without established procedures
- Basic tasks are completed without review by others.
- Supervision/guidance is required for higher level tasks.

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
- Available to work 37.5 hours a week sunday-thursday 9am-5pm
- Experience in Health Information Management (Medical Records) processes,
- Experience in Release of Information,
- Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy & Security,
- Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office – Microsoft Excel (ability to create, edit and save spreadsheet)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination prior to employment to ensure compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with RHIA/RHIT
