Position Summary:
Unity Foods is a fast growing foodservice distributor in the Pacific Northwest. We are looking for a purchaser that has experience in food distribution. This position is responsible for vendor partnerships, item sourcing, and product replenishment. Monitor shipments and inventory, communicate with departments and suppliers, and generate purchase orders to optimize service levels, days of supply, aged inventory, and customer fill rates. We are rapidly growing and our buyer/replenishment team members are a vital part of our customer experience and continued growth. This is not an entry level position, food service experience is required, category management would be preferred. Competitive salary and benefits are just the beginning!
Key Job Functions:
- Monitor inventory levels, vendors/items to plan and sustain suitable inventory levels
- Compile daily reports on product needs, performance, and statistics
- Write, place and track purchase orders
- Serve as a point of contact for suppliers as needed
- Assist in researching new items and categories alignment
- Perform accounting research and validate PO costs and contracts to ensure correct billing and Work with suppliers, warehouse, and buyers to process returns and credits, as needed
- Collaborate with other departments to share and analyze critical metrics (e.g., aged and excess inventory, days of supply, and service levels)
- Replenish any new items based on reset schedules, supply shortages or promotional purchases, as appropriate
- Negotiate with suppliers while building positive, long-term relationships
- Communicate with warehouse receivers, inspectors and sales team. Communicate with all suppliers to promote accuracy/efficiency of the ordering process, the completeness of shipments, and on-time deliveries. Notify vendors of replenishment needs for manufacturing planning as needed.
- Identify space planning, logistics and other opportunities for efficiencies, as appropriate.
- Receive and manage Quality Assurance information to maintain fresh, sellable product in the warehouses.
- Manage the flow of product related to pack changes, bonus packs, and discontinued items.
- Collaborate with vendors to discuss new items, market trends, service levels, and other critical product/market information
- Review forecasts for seasonality, upcoming events and collaborate with other departments
- Coordinate arrival of product and warehouse turnover in accordance with retail store needs, sound inventory control, and warehouse delivery schedules. Manage delivery rescheduling.
- As needed, develop strategies and forecasts to assist other buyers, Departments, and vendors.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
