JOB SUMMARY :

The Admissions Counselor provides telephonic and in person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.

Responsible for bed management for both Detox and Rehab units.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description.

The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position.

Staff must demonstrate knowledge and skill in provision of services to a varied population including adolescents, adults, older adults and dually diagnosed patients, in an inpatient, partial hospital, and outpatient setting.

Qualifications

Experience :

Prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with substance abuse and dual diagnosis

Population, preferably in an in-patient setting.

Licensure / Certification : None

Knowledge :

Prefer knowledge of crisis intervention and risk assessment, chemical dependency and dual diagnosis

symptomology, age specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management.

Physical Requirements :

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds.

Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping. Drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-.
