POSITION SUMMARY: Collaborates with the RN to provide a safe environment for the patients. Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups.
PROVISION OF SERVICES
Provides direct continual observation of patients requiring special precautions to ensure a safe environment during their hospital stay. Sitters are responsible for remaining with the assigned patient at all times during their assigned shift. Assists the R.N. to provide an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors and employees. Maintains professional behavior when dealing with issues or conflicts, utilizing appropriate resources, as needed. The concepts of the patient centered care delivery model will provide the foundation for all nursing care.

Qualifications
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
- Ability to read, and write in English
- Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, and others
- Ability to remain calm under stress
- Ability to comprehend and follow instructions
- Bending, lifting (25 lbs. minimum), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, pulling, and squatting
- Ability to repeatedly twist, squat, and stoop
- Exposure to infectious organisms, agents and toxic chemicals
- Ability to make decisions within the limitations of the job.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Some experience in the hospital setting preferred
- HWC and Verbal de-escalation completion within 30 days of hire and maintain throughout employment
