This opportunity is for a dynamic and talented Unit Coordinator for a growing hospital and offers full-time schedule, Monday - Friday Day Shift.
Rockford Center is a 138-bed mental health facility located in Newark, DE, providing easy access to a full complement of inpatient and partial behavioral health programs for children and adolescents, adults, and older adults. Rockford is the only child inpatient behavioral health facility in DE, offers an experienced and tenured senior management team, and serves New Castle County and northern Maryland.

Position Summary:
The Unit Coordinator at the Facility manages the clerical functions of the nursing unit necessary to provide patient care to units providing care to varied populations.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Manages the clerical functions of the nursing unit necessary to provide excellent patient care
- Serve as unit receptionist; answer telephone and screen and route calls.
- Provide routine hospital related information to callers and visitors within the boundaries of confidentiality.
- Type various reports and documents for unit staff, photocopy and distribute as necessary.
- Maintain files, patient charts, forms, and records related to the effective operation of the unit.
- Transcribe physician orders as needed.
- Must possess experience and knowledge of interventional and administrative duties necessary to support nursing and patient care on assigned unit.
- Assists in the direct care and management of patients with medical and behavioral issues as directed by the treatment team.
- Assists with unit programming to facilitate the carryover of therapy issues, leisure activities, and activities of daily living for patients on the unit.
- Maintains knowledge of dual diagnosis/chemical dependency/mental health patients; age-specific patient issues, limit setting and behavior management, crisis prevention and intervention techniques
- Maintain knowledge and comprehension of regulatory agency standards (DOH, DPW, CMS, Joint Commission, etc.); staff development procedures and requirements
- Ability to communicate orally, telephonically, and in writing; working knowledge of computer systems and various software

Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year experience working with a psychiatric patient population and previous secretarial experience preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license and safe driving record.
- Maintains certification CPR, Verbal De-Escalation, and Handle With Care.
- Must possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to be a team player.
- Good documentation, organization and time management skills are necessary.
- Must be effective in decision-making and problem solving.
