Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Four (4) years of full-time experience leading training efforts. Experience with Microsoft and/or Google Applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Association for Talent Development Certification (APTD, CPTD). Experience with higher education or state institutions. Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS). Experience designing and delivering training for large scale transformations and change programs such as ERP implementations. Familiarity with Persona Based training. Project management experience.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Training Manager reports to the Director of Change Management. This individual serves as the training lead for small, medium and large scale transformation initiatives across Stony Brook University. This role is part of the Change Management Office (CMO) that functions as an internal consulting organization supporting transformation initiatives and promoting adoption of solutions including technologies. The primary focus of this role is to identify training needs and knowledge gaps of those affected by the change and provide a course of action to prepare impacted users with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the change. The Training Manager will need to be experienced and have in-depth knowledge of planning and managing training rollouts and ongoing sustainability as well as developing required training materials. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and effective facilitation skills are essential.
- Training Needs Assessments:
- Analyze scope and audience for training.
- Lead training assessments/workshops.
- Conduct training needs assessments.
- Designing Training Strategy and plans:
- Formulate training strategy.
- Identify the Training Method and Approach that best meets the requirements of each audience.
- Design, develop and execute comprehensive and tailored training plans.
- Designing and developing Training Materials:
- Design and develop training materials using the right medium for the right audience (Persona).
- Review training materials with business partners.
- Develop training in various formats (videos, quick reference guides, webinars, self-serve, on-demand).
- Delivering Training:
- Manage requirements for the training environment set up, in partnership with the Technical team, if needed.
- Plan and schedule training activities.
- Lead 'Train-the-Trainer' sessions and knowledge transfer workshops for Super Users and Subject Matter Experts.
- Deliver end user training.
- Administer post-training continued education sessions, including 1:1 and group sessions.
- Training Evaluation:
- Define training success metrics.
- Monitor feedback from the user community.
- Respond to feedback/questions/concerns.
- Monitor training progress.
- Design and administer training effectiveness surveys.
- Conduct post-training analysis to assess training effectiveness.
- Deliver training evaluation feedback and metrics reports to the leadership team.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,026 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
