What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Research Associate I - Dr. Haeun Chung position at University of Arizona?
The successful applicant will be encouraged to integrate into the Steward UV group. The dynamic and inclusive Steward UV group includes Profs. Erika Hamden, Carlos Vargas, and Haeun Chung, as well as a number of postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduates. The Steward UV group is leading Aspera, a NASA-funded SmallSat mission to detect and map warm-hot OVI emission from nearby edge-on-galaxies and is expected to launch in 2025. The group is also involved in FIREBALL-2, a NASA-funded balloon-borne stratospheric telescope to study the faint CGM around z~0.7 galaxies. The group is also actively working on the development of UV detector and grating technology as well as new small/large class UV mission concepts. The successful applicant will also be encouraged to take an active role in space mission proposal writing and new concept development.
This is a year-to-year appointment, expected to last three years, contingent on satisfactory performance and availability of funding. A fraction of the time will be made available for independent research and new projects in related areas.
