Summary of Job Duties:
The Medical Physicist Assistant will work under the general supervision of the Chief Medical Physicist and other qualified Medical Physicists to ensure adherence to policies and procedures of the University of Arkansas for Medical Science (UAMS) Radiation Oncology Clinic. Performs services to include, but are not limited to, the quality control program of proton radiotherapy.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in physics, engineering, mathematics, or other physical science, OR Associate's degree plus 2 (two) years experience in physics, engineering, mathematics, or other physical science, OR High school diploma plus 4 (four) years experience in physics, engineering, mathematics, or other physical science
Additional Information:
Responsibilities:
Performs patient-specific radiation measurements and calculations, quality assurance tests of pencil-beam-scanning proton therapy plans (characteristics with logfile-based reconstructed secondary delivery dose verification,) and mechanical characteristics of therapy equipment.
Assists with radiation surveys of treatment rooms as required by the clinic's policy and procedures and state and federal regulations.
Follows all medical physics quality assurance procedures and policies.
Monitors and adheres to general radiation safety guidelines.
Hosts and teaches observers, including students, radiation therapists, residents and fellows.
Other duties as assigned.
