Led by the Vice Chancellor for Research and his senior leadership team, the Office of Research (OR) works with other campus units to foster an environment for research and artistic activity that facilitates the discovery and dissemination of knowledge in many forms to all levels of society. OR provides central campus administrative support for UCI’s research programs. OR’s core administrative units include Research Administration (RA), University Laboratory Animal Resources (ULAR), Administrative Operations and Research Program Services, Research Development, and the Office of the Vice Chancellor. Administration/Financial Operations/Research Programs provides administrative and network and computing support to OR’s core administrative units as well as over 30 Organized Research Units and Special Research Programs that report to OR.
Uses advanced professional HR concepts related to staff and academic employees to provide guidance to all levels within the Office of Research (OR) including the research units reporting to OR, utilizing specialized human resources expertise within area of responsibility to resolve highly complex issues. Normally receives little direction on assignments. Position serves in a lead capacity, providing guidance to other human resources professionals within the OR Coordinating Point. NOTE: This is primarily a remote position. Infrequently, this position may need, or be required, to work on campus.

Required:
5-10 years of experience in Human Resources or personnel administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Possesses advanced analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated advanced knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; advanced knowledge of functional area and understands how work affects other areas in Human Resources and Academic Personnel within the organization. Advanced knowledge of both staff and academic human resources concepts, policies and procedures including employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources as well as organizational initiatives relating to and / or affecting human resources In-depth knowledge of UCPath and TRS Advanced interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to present complex information to all levels within the organization Demonstrated ability to handle extremely difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively. Demonstrated active listening and critical thinking skills and ability to know when to reach out to a central office. Strong analytical, active listening, and critical thinking skills. Ability to work as a team and collaborate with coworkers, with a strong attention to detail and achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing tasks. Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality of personnel and payroll files and acquired knowledge of sensitive situations. Demonstrated experience working with confidential information and using sensitivity, tact, and discretion in both internal and external communications.
