This recruitment is for Temporary Medical Administrative Assistant positions through UCI's internal temporary service.
UCI Temporary Employment Services (TES) is continuously seeking applicants to assist in filling the temporary needs of the UC Irvine Campus in Irvine and the UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange. We recruit for this position on an on-going basis in order to build a talent pool of potential candidates.
We are seeking applicants with a wide range of administrative and professional experience. Administrative duties range from front office assistance to providing executive-level support to office managers and directors. This temporary position provides administrative support to the Medical Clinics (Primary Care & Specialty), Ancillary Departments (Laboratory, Pharmacy, Radiology, Nursing), and their respective managers and supervisors within a UCI medical clinic/office. In addition, this position provides backup support to the Office Manager and to the Administrative Assistant as may be necessary. The incumbent is frequently called upon to handle large amounts of sensitive and confidential material with diplomacy and tact. In addition, this position must be able to successfully interact with a wide range of individuals, including but not limited to: patients, patient family members, students, parents of students, managers, supervisors, faculty, staff representatives from various departments across the campus and third party vendors.
Compensation Range:
$24.66/hr
Required:
- Experience as an assistant to Management staff
- Demonstrated knowledge of all Microsoft applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint
- Superior and effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other departments, campus staff & faculty, external vendors, UCOP, and students
- Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Skill to compose, edit, and proofread correspondence and reports
- Ability to make independent judgments and decisions about office procedures and policies to effectively apply to individual and specific situations
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters/information with tact and discretion. Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment of rapidly changing priorities and frequent interruptions
Preferred:
- BA/BS with one (1) year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of Adobe & Photoshop graphics editing software and Publisher.

TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT
This is a temporary employment recruitment reporting to the UCI Temporary Employment Services (TES) Department. Interviewing and hiring is based on internal hiring needs and how well the candidate's experience matches the assignment requirements. Certain temporary assignments may require clearance of health physical or require a valid California Driver’s License for driving university vehicles.
The majority of our temporary positions are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., however, we also have occasional part-time, weekend and evening hours available. Comprehensive benefits options are also available for temporary employees, including paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave.
