UI Health is seeking a Physical Therapy Aide to join our Physical Therapy 2C FT team. The primary function of the Physical Therapy Aide is to assist in carrying out patient care services and treatments under the direction of a Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Physical Therapist Student, Occupational therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistant or Student Occupational Therapist or Student occupational Therapy Assistant. Physical Therapy Aides perform maintenance duties, various administrative support tasks for the Rehabilitation Services Department, and patient care duties.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepares and cleans treatment areas.
- Wipes down mat tables and plinths.
- Keeps equipment used in treatment clean, properly stored and ready for use.
- Fills linen carts & changes linen on mats & plinths.
- Prepares and cleans wound care treatment area before and after treatment.
- Launders all linen and washable supplies used in providing therapy treatment on a regular basis
- Assists with administrative support tasks.
- Reception Duties
- Scheduling patients
- Charge entry
- Photocopying
- Data entry
- Insurance verification
- Assists in performing portions of treatment under the direct supervision of a licensed therapist, assistant or student therapists or assistant.
- Safely transfers patient between two surfaces such as w/c's, carts, cardiac chairs, mat tables, treatment plinths, floor, beds.
- After receiving instruction regarding a patient's treatment program, sets up equipment, assists patient with completion of treatment activity and puts away equipment after treatment is complete.
- Communicates effectively with patients to motivate and explain treatment procedures. Adjusts communication as appropriate for patient's age, diagnosis and other characteristics
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Rehab Aide
- Bilingual language skills with the ability to read, write, speak and translate Spanish/English
- Prior experience with Epic EHR system.
