Starting Salary: $14.50 per hour/ 7.5 hour day

Summary:
Under general supervision from a designated supervisor, perform food preparation and cooking, as well as other assigned duties.

Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Prepare a variety of food for cooking and baking. Display the skills and knowledge necessary to slice, dice , peel, portion, mix and other related food preparation tasks.
  • Perform basic cooking- including but not limited to- grilling, broiling, deep frying, assembling sandwiches, pizzas etc.
  • Set up and operate cooking appliances and equipment.
  • Maintain and replenish needed supplies and equipment in service area.
  • Serve food items from the serving area to customers and maintain excellent customer relations.
  • Clean and sanitize food service equipment, serving areas, storage areas and related items.
  • Assist in the operation of the PCX register.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Six (6) months of work experience in food preparation in a commercial setting.
3. As required by the position to be filled, possession of the Illinois Department of Public Health, Food Handler Training Certification (from an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited trainer).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of materials and methods used in the preparation of food.
Knowledge of the use and care of appropriate utensils and equipment.
