Summary:
The Financial Aid (FA) Information Technology Technical Associate (ITTA) provides technical support and expertise for financial aid operating systems. The FA ITTA serves as the primary liaison with IT staff on matters related to the Financial Aid systems. This position serves as a technical lead and subject matter expert in financial aid systems, data, and website.

Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Provide technical expertise to the financial aid team in managing the financial aid software programs, reports, and website to maintain efficient operations. Provide technical assistance and training for financial aid staff on system procedures, system integration, data integrity and reporting.
  • Create, test and implement financial aid processes such as packaging, budgeting, and student communication, identifying areas for innovation, improvement, and collaboration.
  • Coordinate with Office of Financial Assistance management, system-level Administrative Information Technology Services (AITS), campus-level Information Technology Support (ITS), and Enrollment Management (EM) technical staff to ensure financial aid systems operate effectively and efficiently.
  • Serve as the department lead for IT/technical processes and projects, such as new or updated software applications and implementing new processes for greater efficiency.
  • Manage data integration both internally and externally, including data exchange with admission/records & registration/bursar, and file/data exchanges with ISAC and FSA Department of Education.
  • Participate in team meetings, campus events, and professional development. Maintains current knowledge of federal and state regulations and guidelines to properly administer financial aid programs. Represent the financial aid office on various groups or committees across campus, as delegated.
  • Create complex custom queries and programs for a variety of financial aid management needs and reporting requirements Completes federal, state and institutional reports and surveys. Analyzes financial aid reports for accuracy.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for IT functional processes and procedures.
  • Serve as destination point administrator for the Federal Student Aid and UIS office of Student Financial Aid sites and ensure staff is complying with the responsibilities and requirements associated with those credentials. Update, maintain and monitor information technology security for all staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Any one or combination totaling two (2) years from the following categories:
A. progressively more responsible work experience in an Information Technology (IT) related profession
B. college course work which included Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
  • 60 semester hours or Associate's Degree equals one (1) year
  • 90-120 semester hours or Bachelor's Degree equals two (2) years

Specialty Factors:

One year or more of additional related experience including SQL, data analysis and maintenance, or software support.

Preferred Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Experience with Banner student financial aid software, Slate CRM, NSLDS, EDconnect and/or COD systems
Prior financial aid experience and/or enrollment management experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Strong computer literacy and database management skills, including but not limited to complex SQL and HTML.
2. Ability to utilize multiple platforms for data extraction and report generation.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with both technical and functional users.
4. Knowledge of Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, and Word.
5. Skill in use of data, research and analysis to increase and improve operational efficiency.
6. Ability to resolve and assist in resolution of problems and/or complaints, taking corrective action as appropriate.
7. Skill in time management, organizing work assignments, and responding quickly and effectively to challenges.
8. Ability to interpret and apply internal and government policies, procedures and regulations.
9. Ability to work independently, or as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment.
