What are the responsibilities and job description for the Administrative Specialist CL2: Gentile Hall position at University of Maine at Farmington?
The University of Maine at Presque Isle is seeking a fulltime Administrative Specialist CL2. The Administrative Specialist works with high levels of autonomy and self-motivation as s/he will have responsibility for access/traffic in and out of Gentile Hall, resolving all issues of inappropriate use or access to the facilities (which will include formal reports to Security for any behavior issues which arise), and appropriate sale and support of membership opportunities. Will
work with the Assistant Directors and the Director of Campus Center on the rental or reserved use of Gentile Hall. In addition, this position assists the Assistant Director/Aquatics Coordinator with registration for swim classes. This position will handle financial transactions and the filing of documents. This position will be in charge of opening the facility on weekdays.
The Administrative Specialist must exhibit impressive social skills such that even in negative situations with challenging Gentile guests, the individual will have the ability to define a successful outcome. That may include support from other offices/departments. To accomplish this the individual must be firm and comfortable in their ability to work with all ages of visitors and capable of redirecting and declining entrance or continued use to those who are not meeting the standards of use and respect which UMPI requires.

The starting rate is $18.22 per hour for a new hire or the appropriate transfer rate for a current employee within the ACSUM collective bargaining unit. In addition the University will contribute up to a 4% matching contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Required

High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) AND sufficient experience, including two years administrative support experience.

Excellent record of interpersonal, written, and oral communication, organization, and technology skills.

Ability to oversee and train student employees and provide ongoing guidance about their work with members or those participating in a special event.

Ability to function independently and creatively with minimal supervision.
Preferred:

Experience within a college or university setting.

Experience working in a recreational setting and/or pool operations background is a plus.
