Statement of the Job:

The College of Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture is seeking a highly qualified person to fill the position of Finance Manager. This position reports directly to the SR. Finance & Budget Manager in the college Finance Office. The position will provide financial services to several units within the college and will work directly with the unit leaders and faculty within those units. The college is a complex organization made up of eight schools, three additional academic departments, numerous teaching and research facilities, five research farms, a green house, a marine center, and the University Forests. The college has a base budget of approximately $35 million dollars and approximately $30 million in grants awarded annually. The Maine Experiment Station receives annually appropriated formula grants with unique compliance and reporting requirements. The typical hiring range for this position is $50,000 to $55,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Has a minimum education associated with a BA/BS degree in the areas of business/ accounting or three to five years of relevant work experience in the areas of accounting, budget and expense management, procurement, and payroll.
  • Excellent spreadsheet skills and the ability to work with reporting tools such as query.
  • Knowledge of MaineStreet, Marketplace, and Concur or other similar financial systems.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven record of teamwork, customer service and professionalism.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to independently prioritize work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven attention to detail and focus on accuracy.
  • Ability to manage and impart information of a confidential nature.

Preferred:

  • Previous work experience in a university setting.
  • Experience in financial analysis, account reconciliation, purchasing, expense reports and journal entries.
  • Knowledge of grants and contracts.
