Stores Specialist Job Code 6008
Hourly wage: $15.92 per hour
40 hours per week, 12 month, benefit eligible, scheduled as needed determined by business needs.
Under the direction of the UMD Stores Operations Manager, this position is responsible for coordination of all incoming and outgoing shipments for the UMD Stores.
Supervision (25%)
- Supervise UMD Stores Student Workers, making sure that merchandise is properly received or shipped
- Assist the Assistant Director in coordinating the work with staff that assist with the shipping and receiving processes
Coordination of Inbound and Outbound Shipments (20%)
- Coordination of all incoming shipment processing
- Correspond with store buyers related to receiving their merchandise
- Help set priorities for processing shipments
System receiving process (25%)
- Responsible for entering and posting all receiving of merchandise on the MBS inventory management system
- Process all outgoing shipments through the UPS WorldShip program
Accounting functions (15%)
- Process all shipping invoices for payment (UPS, FedEx, freight carriers, etc)
- Process all store use invoices in PeopleSoft
Analysis and Problem Solving (10%)
- Follow through on all shipping related problems including freight claims with shipping companies
- Assist management with analysis of freight management discount programs
- Responsible for proper organization and efficient use of dock space
Miscellaneous (5%)
- Procurement of shipping supplies as needed
- Check in merchandise as needed
- Assist as needed with any other duty related to the Shipping & Receiving department
Qualifications
-Able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
-Reads, writes, understands and communicates in English
-Must be able to stand up for 4 hours at a time
-High School Diploma or GED
-Ability to perform simple math calculations
-Must have at least 6 months of relevant experience in warehousing, storekeeping or inventory methods
-Knowledge of stockroom and stock control items, methods and procedures, inventory procedures, inventory record maintenance, common clerical procedures, standard abbreviations used in shipping and designating weights and measures as required.
