MURR’s reactor is the highest-power university research reactor in the United States, operating at 10 megawatts, 6.5 days a week and 52 weeks a year. The MURR facility enables research across many disciplines – From investigating ancient cultures and how plants respond to their environment, to analyzing industrial materials and developing radiopharmaceuticals that have lifesaving clinical applications. The MURR facility is a reliable resource for researchers, scientists, engineers and students across the country.
Job Description
The University of Missouri seeks a Training Coordinator to lead the MURR training team to grow and develop a strong training culture at MURR. This position will help meet the mission of the training team; Leading in standards of excellence and the pursuit of performance improvement while continuing to develop a highly competent and self-motivated staff. The successful candidate will take an innovative and proactive approach to training and will develop an appropriate training program to both introduce new employees to working at MURR and continue to educate staff through the remainder of their career. The Training Coordinator reports directly to the manager of MURR Manager of Environmental Health & Safety. Key Duties Performed by This Position Will Include:
- In coordination with MURR Human Resources and the Hiring managers, develop onboarding training plan for each employee at MURR. This includes creating the initial training plan and ensuring the plan is implemented as part of overall onboarding experience.
- Develop individual or group training sessions on a variety of topics working with technical experts in areas including; equipment operation, operational processes, and all aspects of safety (lab, occupational, environmental, and radiation)
- Manage MURR’s training software (EHS Assitant) to maintain traing data, assign training requirements, track employee progress, and compile training records and reports.
- Identify training needs and implement new training programs
- Assist supervisors to ensure training requirements are identified, developed, and delivered in an effective and efficienty way
- Serve as primary point of contact between management, safety groups, and MURR staff on all training issues
- Collaborate with other UM training teams including: Environmental Health & Safety, Learning & Organizational Development, Compliance, and Financial Services
In Addition, The Individual Will
- Direct training programs to protect reactor or laboratory personnel from hazards and to assure compliance with federal, state, and university regulations
- Evaluate needs and present problem solving alternatives.
- Analyze potential solutions using experience, judgements, and precedence, providing input and recommendations
- Analyze and interprets data provided by research investigators
- Impact the quality of own work and the work of others on the team, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and compliance
- Explain complex information to others, ensuring understanding

Salary
$50,000 to $75,000 annually

Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Chemistry and or science related educational background
- Nuclear and/or radiological facility experience
- Two or more years of relevant training experience in manufacturing, industrial, operational, or regulated environment
