Job Description The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking to hire a Peer Mentor for Nevada Money Mentors, UNR’s financial wellness program housed within the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships. This position reports to the Program Coordinator, Nevada Money Mentors and will play a crucial role in the effective functioning and growth of UNR’s financial wellness program. This is an in-person position. Responsibilities Conduct 1-on-1 financial coaching sessions maintaining client confidentiality Grow in financial literacy skills and be able to deliver personal finance knowledge to peers through tabling, events, workshops, presentations, and coaching Help plan, implement, and execute financial wellness events and workshops across campus and in the Northern Nevada community Assist in the development and evaluation of financial wellness programing, resources, and projects Create and manage the program’s social media accounts and initiatives Attend weekly team meetings and trainings as required Daily operational tasks as assigned by supervisor Required Qualifications Candidate is enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno Candidate has a minimum GPA of 3.0 and maintain semester enrollment of at least 6.0 credits Candidate has a general knowledge of personal finance topics and has an interest in building awareness of the importance of money management Candidate has effective written and verbal communication skills Candidate has excellent interpersonal, customer service, and organization skills Candidate has proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and email) Candidate is a self-starter who demonstrates attention to detail and an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Candidate has an ability to work independently and in team settings, carrying out assignment to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices Preferred Qualifications Candidate has previous social media management experience Candidate has graphic design skills with Adobe and/or Canva experience Candidate is an underclassman who can commit to a term of at least one full academic year and be available to work a minimum of 10 hours a week Schedule Expected hours to work per week: Up to 20 Position can work a varied schedule under the discretion of the program coordinator.
