Regional Engagement Program Manager, California

University of Notre Dame

The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Regional Engagement Program Manager, California.

Applications will be accepted until 4/8/2022.

NOTE: THIS POSITION IS BASED IN THE SILICON VALLEY OF CALIFORNIA

The Meruelo Family Center for Career Development prepares students for lifelong career readiness through innovative and tailored programs, services, and strategic partnerships. Strategic partnerships extend beyond Notre Dame's campus, as the Center's Regional Engagement Team is responsible for cultivating relationships and strategic partnerships to advance student placement into meaningful internships and full-time positions after graduation.

To advance our mission, on-site employer engagement with a regionally-focused Career Development staff member in California has produced results and is expanding. The Regional Engagement Program Manager position advances this role, serving as a relationship cultivator and advocate for students interested in working in northern California, particularly the San Francisco Bay Area/Silicon Valley.

The Regional Engagement Program Manager is responsible for leading the Center for Career Development's efforts throughout the state of California, a state with more Fortune 100/500/1000 companies than any other state and more start-up companies concentrated in a single geographic location than anywhere else in the world. This includes engaging and developing partnerships with companies, from Fortune 100 to start-up, and developing relationships with companies that serve the highly innovative ecosystem of California, from venture capital, finance and accounting, to corporate and patent law.

The Program Manager will be charged with identifying and sourcing internship and full-time career opportunities for all Notre Dame students, all degree levels and in all majors. The Program Manager clearly articulates the vision of the Notre Dame California Initiative and Notre Dame's top position and status in higher education today.

The Program Manager oversees all phases of engagement, including maintaining and advancing relationships with existing employers, as well as developing new opportunities throughout the state of California. The Program Manager also works directly with students, increasing awareness, student applications, and acceptance into internships and full time jobs in California. The Program Manager plans treks, as well as formal and informal networking gatherings year-round. The Program Manager will also serve as a resource for the Notre Dame California Initiative and the Silicon Valley Semester program.

This professional will be highly integrated into the current structure of employer development to support undergraduate students and Graduate School students.

The Program Manager is responsible for travel throughout Northern California, as well as multiple visits throughout the year to Notre Dame's Main Campus in South Bend.

Responsibilities include:

  • EMPLOYER ENGAGEMENT: Create and leverage an infrastructure that enables networking and employer development in the region with the goal of accelerating the number of undergraduate students and graduate students in summer internship experiences and full-time positions. Engage effectively with organizations with established relationships, as well as high-growth startup companies. Utilize the strong Notre Dame alumni network to identify prospective employers and cultivate recruiting relationships. Coordinate treks and other site visits to get students connected with employers.

  • ALUMNI CLUB CONNECTIVITY AND COLLABORATION: Connect with Notre Dame Club leadership and alumni in California (particularly the Bay Area) on a regular basis to build relationships with alumni, opening avenues to new employer recruitment. Support and attend club-sponsored career development-related events (e.g. career fairs, networking receptions, etc.).

  • STUDENT ENGAGEMENT: Develop and advance a community for students interested in internship and job opportunities in California (particularly the Bay Area) through the utilization of electronic resources, presentations, and meetings. Create and deliver workshops and presentations to Notre Dame students on the following topics: internship opportunities; full-time opportunities; emerging career fields and industries; and insight for preparing students for the competitive application process with California-based organizations. Provide mentoring support to students before, during and after internships, as requested by students.

  • JOB POSTINGS: Manage job postings utilizing Handshake (job posting software). Cultivate opportunities from recruiters, alumni, and parents; communicate opportunities to students on Main Campus; create resume books; and present summaries to recruiters.

  • COMMUNICATION AND MEETINGS: Attend tele-remote staff meetings and training sessions with Career Development staff. Engage in meetings with various partners (Career Development staff, faculty, deans, etc.) when returning to Main Campus.

  • OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the Center for Career Development, the University, students, and other stakeholders. Represent the Center for Career Development across campus and in professional associations/community organizations.
