The Writer & Editorial Manager is the voice for the University to our alumni and friends. Are you a dynamic, creative, and enterprising storyteller with experience engaging audiences across mediums and platforms? The
Notre Dame Alumni Association is looking for someone just like you to help grow its storytelling platforms and expand its reach to Notre Dame's alumni, parents, and friends.
The right person for this role is a highly talented writer and copy editor who knows how to find a good story and bring it to life. You will have an unlimited pool of great Notre Dame stories to pull from: tales of hope and inspiration, of triumph and resilience, of good times and cherished memories that make up the unique fabric of the Notre Dame family and illustrate how our alumni, parents, and friends are a force for good in the world.
The position is primarily responsible for various publications and communications distributed on behalf of the Alumni Association and will play a key role in the growth of its print and multimedia storytelling efforts. This position writes for and manages
We Are ND (weare.nd.edu), a feature platform dedicated to sharing the incredible stories of Notre Dame alumni; and
Echoes (echoes.nd.edu), the only digital publication from Notre Dame distributed to all alumni, parents, and friends. This position also serves as the Alumni Editor of Notre Dame Magazine, overseeing the Class Notes section.
Additionally, this position plans, researches, writes, and edits for a wide variety of innovative marketing initiatives and events through various channels, including emails, social media, scripts, press releases, letters, brochures, collateral materials, etc. And with a grasp of basic video editing or a willingness to learn, you can also contribute to our multiplatform storytelling efforts.
This role offers an opportunity to find and tell great stories in a variety of ways, as well as play a key role in growing the reach of the NDAA's storytelling platforms. Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree
- 3 or more years of professional experience
- Outstanding writing, editing, and verbal communications skills
- Broad experience as a writer, editor, or communications professional
- Robust portfolio showcasing effective print and digital communications
- Track record of developing and implementing tools to gauge the effectiveness of communications
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with alumni, staff, students, faculty, and University administrators
- Ability to work closely with designers and other colleagues to create high quality, meaningful communications for intended audiences
- Excellent organizational, time management, analytical, and prioritization skills.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
These additional experiences or qualifications may be helpful, but are not required:
- Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, English, etc.
- Some experience in video and/or multimedia storytelling, including the ability to cut and edit simple, appealing, short-form videos
