X-Ray Technician - University Health Services.

University Health Services is a dynamic, fast-paced college health practice committed to providing excellent health care to the students of the University of Notre Dame. The radiologic technologist provides diagnostic imaging services to eligible patients in a convenient and timely manner. The technologist demonstrates expertise in digital imaging, storage and transmission of images. This staff member is a valued contributor of the UHS team and works collaboratively with our providers, nurses, support staff, and administrators. Working under the direct supervision of the UHS Assistant Director of Operations, this individual will support all aspects of services provided by demonstrating respect and dignity of the patient, reflecting the unique character of the Notre Dame community, and sponsoring the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Provide high quality digital image exams for diagnosis as ordered:
- Follow instructions from Physicians regarding which area of the patient's body needs imaging
- Talk the patient through the procedure and answer questions to lower their anxiety
- Correctly position the patient, adjust the imaging equipment to the specified position
- Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure both to themselves and to the patient
- Follow correct techniques and procedures such as patient shielding to reduce unnecessary radiation exposure
- Document appropriately for correct positioning on images, appropriate billing CPT codes, work with teleradiology for reads as needed.
- Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating future needs and placing orders
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Handle highly sensitive patient information by collection from patient, filing to records, retrieving from storage, electronic transmission and data entry to patient medical record.
- Maintenance of patient medical records.
- Management of x-ray department and procedures; superuser of digital software and equipment.
- Other duties as assigned
This is a one year limited term position.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree or up to 3 years of college or technical school
- 6 to 12 months Experience
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand, walk and assist/lift patients.
- Must be detailed oriented, knowledge with math, science and the human body.
- Must be comfortable interacting with patients.
- CPR/AED certification (will provide); ARRT board certified and Indiana license permit.
