What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Technician III position at University of Pennsylvania Health System?
Pharmacy- (Retail)
Obtain pre-certification and referrals for inpatient and same day encounters. Verification of benefits and pre-certify selected outpatient registrations. Provide specialized support in the areas of insurance and billing information. Support the representatives solving problems and answering questions. This position will ensure access to integrated health care; achieve clinically appropriate authorization to assure optimal reimbursement for the hospital for services provided
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma required.
A certified pharmacy technician with 3-5 year s experience in a community-based retail or hospital outpatient pharmacy environment or a financial coordinator. Additional experience in obtaining pre-certification in the community retail setting is preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency and process knowledge of outpatient prescription program payer/PBM billing, issue resolution, and payment processes—including Prior Authorization and Claim Exception Facilitation
Understanding and process knowledge of Medicare Part B billing in a retail pharmacy setting (e.g. Part B vs. Part D drug billing).
Demonstrated computer literacy-including Word/Excel capabilities
Available to work rotating and flexible schedules
Excellent verbal and written skills
Maintains professional appearance
Strong organizational, record-keeping, and time management skills are essential
Consistently demonstrates a high degree of customer service skills.
