JOB SUMMARY
The Database Manager role is integral to the overall fundraising efforts of the seminary. The Database Manager works primarily within the Institutional Advancement department and oversees the CRM for The Saint Paul Seminary. This person is responsible for the day-to-day management of the database, coordinates development mailings, tracks and analyzes giving trends, and interfaces with both the UST Controller’s Office and the seminary’s business administrator. Additionally, he or she will lead the effort to assist all seminary departments to share and use data in accord with best business practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Support Annual Fundraising: Produces queries for all development mailings and email communications including direct mail programs, phone-a-thon, crowdfunding, newsletters and events. Assists with prospect research and provides event support as needed.
- Database Management: Integrates and structures data across multiple departments throughout the institution; ensures accuracy and integrity of data; develops processes for data cleansing; creates and updates constituent records; acts as primary liaison to Blackbaud and UST Information and Technology Services; responsible for training and best practices for database use; updates gift processing manual as needed; acts as back-up to gift processor.
- Reports and Queries: Tracks and analyzes giving. Provides statistical analysis of advancement efforts for strategic planning purposes. Creates weekly and monthly giving reports, the annual report, the Association of Theological Schools report, and reconciliation reports. Interfaces with UST development office, UST Controller’s office and the SPS business office. Provides additional queries and reports for staff as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
- Three years of professional level experience providing technical and systems design and development
- Experience to include the following:
- Demonstrated technical skill designing and developing tools in student information systems and databases, including ERP, imaging solutions and reporting
- Experience with database design and data manipulation;
- Identifying and troubleshooting information integrity issues
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the use of database management tools such as Raiser’s Edge
- Experience in development
