Position Information
Hiring Department Environmental Health and Safety

Hours : 40 hours per week, Monday- Friday 7 : 30am- 4 : 30pm.
FLSA status : Non-exempt
Earliest Start Date : As soon as possible.
Salary : $41,046 Annually

Incumbents may perform all or some of the primary accountabilities listed. Specific tasks or responsibilities will be documented in the incumbents' performance objectives as outlined by the incumbents' immediate supervisor or manager.
This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides, and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.
Purpose of Position
Installs, inspects, tests, repairs and maintains fire alarm systems and ensures that the systems comply with all applicable laws, and codes.
Essential Functions
Install, program, configure, maintain, trouble shoot, perform diagnostics, and repair of fire alarm systems and fire suppression systems.
Performs emergency services and schedules preventative maintenance and inspections on fire alarm panels with all of their peripheral devices (power supplies, wiring, and initiating and notification devices).
Analyze blueprints and plans from Planning and Construction for proper planning and design.
Estimates labor and material cost; reports the estimate to superior and work order initiator.
Maintain clean and safe workspace.
Coordinates with other trades and department supervisors on work projects and be able to lead them from beginning to end.
Maintains records of repairs, calibrations, and tests.
Must be available on an
On Call basis.
Overtime may be required.
Has knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and be able to learn and use institutional software systems.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities : No supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.
Required Qualifications :
Education : Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school within area of assigned responsibility.
Experience : Three (3) years of experience related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications :
Knowledge of Fire Alarm Panels, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 72 Fire Alarm Codes, Networking Connections and Functions (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, rj45 pinout and protocols).
Knowledge of Siemens DESIGO Building Automation Platform is a plus.
Five (5) years of experience related to the statement of duties and responsibilities

extreme cold; extreme heat; explosives; risk of radiation and vibration. The noise level for this work environment is usually moderate.
